How to prepare for a spray tan

In the weeks before

Moisturise morning and night to eliminate the production of dead skin cells, and use an exfoliant (either a body scrub or an exfoliating mitt) twice a week. Otherwise those flakes of dead skin will grab your tan and flake away, leaving you looking patchy and pale in no time at all.

48 hours before

Do one last exfoliation to help you remove any last bits of dead skin, leaving your skin fresh and smooth for your tan.

24 hours before

De-fluff. Shave/wax/remove hair as you need, but allow 24 hours for your pores to close up again post-hair removal. Open pores will suck tan in, and we can promise you, it's not pretty. Plus, shaving removes another layer of skin (in other words, shaving is exfoliating your skin), and exfoliating too close to your tan will mean your tan won’t be able to stick properly to your skin.

Manis and pedis should also be done the day before, so you don’t turn up to your tan with freshly scrubbed legs that won’t hold tan, or a layer of lotion on your skin that will stop tan from sticking!

On the day

Have a lukewarm shower 2 or more hours before your tanning appointment. Ensure you're not wearing any makeup, moisturisers, perfume, deodorant, band-aid/strapping tape residue, or anything else that may create a barrier between the tan solution and your skin. Wear your hair up (we'll give you a cap to cover your hair), and wear whatever you'd like to tan in (just remember, it will leave tan lines - we recommend using one of our disposable g-strings). Bring something loose and dark and a pair of flip-flops to wear until it’s time to rinse your tan off.

Don’t make any plans for the night of your tan - it’s best to stay home, stay cool and dry, wear no makeup, and avoid wearing any tight clothing or underwear that will prevent your tan from developing properly.

After your tan

Depending on the desired outcome of your tan, it may be time to rinse your tan solution off within 1 hour. Please make sure you have somewhere you can have a shower within 1 hour of your appointment - otherwise you’ll risk going too dark or even orange, and your tan trial may be a total waste.

Book your tan here (make sure your tan is booked 2 days before a wedding/event, or 1 day before a holiday)
